problems with any models which are not included in OrCAD

Hello. I have problems with Pspice models. I need to use motor driver in my work, i choosed DRV8841 ( Texas Instr.), but couldn't find in library and  http://www.pspice.com/models/ti.

After that i tried to use DRV8832,  i downloaded it from http://www.pspice.com/models/ti, added file drv8832.olb, but i got error "ERROR(ORPSIM-15108): Subcircuit DRV8837 used by X_U14 is undefined".  Ok, i have put it down and started to work with another part of my project, i downloaded few Opamps models from website, and it didn't wok.

After that i tried to use voltage regulator in my transformer LM7810 ( i need 10 volts), i found 7805,7812,7815, but orcad has no 7810, and i don't know where i can get it.

Can support service help with these questions?

Hi Lars,

You mention that you have added drv8832.olb, but that is only the schematic symbol. You will also need the simulationprofile (.lib) for the part as well.
TI have their own appnote on this: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/sloa070/sloa070.pdf

What you'll need to do:

  • Open Capture with your project
  • Click on PSpice - Edit Simulation Profile
  • Configuration Files - Library
  • Click Browse and search for the .lib file for your TI part.
  • Click Add to Design
  • Ok
  • Try your simulation now

Kind regards,

Anders M. Pedersen

Also, if you're looking for the PSpice Model for DRV8832, you can find it here:

http://www.ti.com/product/DRV8832/toolssoftware

Thank you, Anders. May you could help me with voltage regulator (LM7810 or ua7810) , because it's impossible to find it, it's strange, that they have 5,9 and 12 volts, but 10( very usefull) don't=)

You Should be able to create SPICE model for LM7810 easily using model editor. Launch Model Editor from start menu, Do New Library >Model >New> Select Select Voltage regulator from drop down. You can select any radio button (type of Model).

Device characterstics curve - Would let you add device characterstics wavefroms in tabular form and SPICE model parameter would be extracted based on that.

Template based - Would let you define device electrical characterstics and spice paratemeter directly.

You may find 2nd option easier for this device. Once you have added device specification. Save the library and generate schematic symbol for this by selecting File >Export To Part Library. This will generate a logical symbol for this new model (.olb) and name of part would be same as name of model.

You can palce this part in capture by selectiing this newly generated library in Capture>Place part dialog. Once this is done, add this simulation model library (.lib) in you simulation profile (refer steps mentioned by andersmp above)

You should be able to simulate this part.

Can you check if you have an .olb file at C:\candence\Cadence\Cadence_SPB_17.2-2016\tools\pspice\library\lm7810.olb
