Cannot find a model & how to draw B-H curve

Hi all!

I am working on simulating magnetic core's B-H curve.

I have found the orthonol core I need  from model library online, but I cannot find it in OrCad Capture 17.2.

Besides, I also have some questions about B-H curve simulation. From a reference paper, I got to know that we can use an inductor coupled with the magnetic core and an AC current source, and then run transient simulation. However how should we set the inductance value, and how will it affect the final B-H curve?

Thanks a lot!

Hi,

I do not know what kind of reference paper you have found, but you can also try with th AN from FlowCAD (http://www.flowcad.de/Application_Notes.htm, magnetische Kerne und B-H Curven Plotten). You will find lot of information there. If not, you can also try with the Magnetic Parts Editor User Guide.

I hope it helps a little bit.

Thank you so much!

This is the reference paper I have read. However the Model Editor part does not work to me, because I cannot open .lib file in Model Editor. I guess maybe this is because I am using LITE version.

how should we set the inductance value - Associated inductore value should be set to number of turns in winding. This number of turns would decide the inductance. in other words if you are using linear coupling and you have a inductor L1 coupled with this - value of L1 should be inductance value. If you are using an inductor with magnetic core the value to inductor should be = number of turns on that core for given winding.

How it will affect the BH curve - depending upon the excitation (voltage/current) simulator will calculate B H value.

Thank you for your detailed explanation.

Just to double-check, "an inductor with magnetic core" you mean is a simple inductor ("L" under passive parts list) coupled with a magnetic core, right?

Thank you again!

Yes. Also if you are running 17.2 version, you may also want to refer "Using the Inductor Coupling Symbols" chapter under Learning PSpice for more details on this. You can also find a design example there.
Learning PSpice can be accessed from Capture Help menu.

Few Orthonol toroid cores are available in installed PSpice libraries. You can use PSpice search (In OrCAD Capture - Place > PSpice Component > Search.

Got it. Thank you!!

I have tried search function before, but it says "could not connect to library database". I'll try to figure it out.

What do you think about drawing your own pixel art picture? Do you like it?

A Sale deed is generally utilized among realtors and property sellers. This authoritative record is huge verification of the responsibility for property.

The securing or offer of a property isn't finished lawfully except if the purchaser and dealer sign a deal deed. Typically, a deal deed is marked solely after the two players are fulfilled and follow the agreements.
