Smoke parameter

Hello,

I'm a pspice 16.6 user who try to use the smoke utility but I can't find the negative voltage CVN (I read that parameter is present in the PSpice Advanced Analysis User Guide) on the polarized cap.

I tried the C_elect from ANALOG.OLB library. Does someone know where I can find the part which include this parameter ?

Does it exist a way to add custom parameter ?

Hi Julien,

CVN property is present in the C_elect part as highlighted below. Try re-visiting the property list.

Hello

I'm trying to use smoke analysis with imported MOS model, it works well with spice but the smoke only provides me the PDM paramater but impossible to have VGS, ID etc... a red flag indicates me "Current data not found for SMoke test ID". I have already set ALL to Voltage, current, power in Data collection Options but it doesn't work. Do you know how I can do ? Does I miss another option ? Where I can check "Save Data" ?

Hi Julien,

For a MOSFET model to be used with Smoke aanalysis in PSpice, you need to have the Smoke parameters assigned before running Smoke. 

Most of the MOSFET's in the PSpice library have smoke parameters assigned to them. For e.g. select IRF621 from the library > Right click on model > Select Edit PSpice model. You would see a table with Smoke parameters assigned.

In your case, because you have imported a 3rd party model in PSpice - You will have to add the smoke parameters to it. You can do it by clicking on the imported part on the schematic > Right click > Edit PSpice model > (PSpice Model editor window opens) > Now, go to Model option in the toolbar > Select add smoke > Add all the smoke parameters based on your specification and model type

Some example of MOSFET smoke parameters,

VGSF - Maximum forward VGS

PDM - Max. power dissipation 

Tj- Maximum junction temperature

VDS - Max D-S voltage and so on...

 

Now, run the simulation and then run Smoke analysis. It should work fine now!
