I have a problem with the .lib model file for the ST Micro VN5T016AH downloaded from ST site. ST tech support is telling me it's because the model is encrypted. I have OrCAD Capture version 16.6-p005 (v16-6-112D) Sep 9 2012 and OrCAD PSpice A/D version 16.6-p003(V16-6-112B) Sep 18 2012. I've read that version 16.6 should handle encrypted models transparently. I've read somewhere else that there is a bug in version 16.6 that requires a patch. Can anyone comment on this? I need to figure out whether I have a model or tool issue?

What kind of problem are you facing? It seems to simulate with the latest patch of 16.6. No error during simulation, but can't say much about the accuracy of the model. You may want to try with the latest patch.
Thanks Alok. This is useful. I'm getting a PSpice A/D error message that the component is undefined when I start simulation, and also an error window saying "Unknown data file format". I can't open the .lib file in the Model Editor either. I will install the latest patch and try again. Not sure how long this will take. I'm at the mercy of our IT dept.
The error looks like because of wrong file name. The file name is "VN5T016AH_Orcad", remove extention " _Orcad" and rename file to "VN5T016AH". Please try it and see whether it works?
Hi Devnedra. Thanks for your suggestion. I ended up adding the model to the design using the OrCad Capture Simulation Settings window shown below. I was able to simulate the circuit then.
Still looks like model name is not updated which is making error. Looking at path the model name still contain VN5T016AH_ORCAD.lib. It needs to be renamed by reomoving _ORCAD i.e VN5T016H.lib. Please try and check.
