Modifing Spice Models such as Rbreak

Hi All,

I am trying to use the Rbreak part and changed the spice model to include "DEV=10%" for example. I added another Rbreak from the root library instead of the design cache and changed its model to include "DEV=1%". Checking on the first resistor I had it had changed the "DEV=10%" to "DEV=1%".

I am still a bit new at pspice but, does anyone know how I am suppose to be able to use multiple verisions of the Rbreak resistor?

Note: my end goal is to have the 'DEV' parameter point to a variable like: "DEV={Rtol_1E}". Then have the Rtol_1E be defined in the PARAM block show it shows up in the schematic nice and easy to see and change. This is why I am using the Rbreak instead of the R/analog model which I found cadence did not like the {Rtol_1E} in the tolerance field.

Thanks for the help!

Michael

Hello Michael,

If you want to use break resistors with different tolerances, you should have to change the implementation name. In your case, you want to use a resistor with DEV=10% and the other with DEV=1%. Then you would use Rbreak like that:

.model R_first RES R=1 Dev=10%

.model R_second RES R=1 Dev=1%

On the other hand, you can also use global parameters:

.model R_first RES R=1 Dev={TOL_1}

.model R_second RES R=1 Dev={TOL_2}

Just as extra information, to see the library, just select the breakout resistor and with right mouse button select Edit PSpice Model.

I hope it helps.

Regards,

Roberto
