Resistor Variation with Temperature

I want to simulate and See the variation in resistance with temp range of -20 to 65degree C.

How to do this and what is the suitable model for this.

Hello,

I have understood, that you want to see how the value of a resistor changes with the temperature. For that, it would be enough to use a resistor from the analog library, if you only have to define TC1 and TC2. If you also have to define TCE or other temperature properties like T_ABS, you should use a resistor from the breakout library.

In order to see which equations define the change of a resistor with the temperature, refer to the PSpice Reference Guide.

Finally you have to define a simulation whre you vary the temperature from -20 to 65 degree.

I hope it helps.

Dear Sir.

Thanks a lot for your kind response.

Actually we are also not allowed to edit the PSPICE model of resistor. please suggest how to resolve it and if you have a PSPICE  model of a resistor in which we can  use abs_T ant Required Temp to get the required result.

Hello,

After analyzing the different options, here a summary:

- In Learning PSpice (Help - Learning PSpice), you will find in the folder PSpice Application Notes, an example of how to simulate and model a Thermistor. Moreover, in the PSpice Library you can find a lof of Thermistor predefined (Click on Place - PSpice Component - Search and search for thermistor)

- You can also use a Breakout resistor and model its behavior:

You can design this circuit taking a resistor from the breakout.olb library. Once this component is placed, you have to highlight it and with Right Mouse Button select Edit PSpice Model. Then you can introuce the model description you can see below.

- You can also use a mathematical model or a table component (from the ABM.OLB library) where you specify the resistance you have in relation to the temperature.

Regards

To simulate the variation in resistance with temperature, you can use a resistor model https://pokerogue.io that incorporates temperature coefficient data. The most commonly used model is the Ebers-Moll model, which includes parameters like thermal resistance and temperature coefficient. You can also use tools like LTspice or MATLAB to simulate resistor behavior over a temperature range. Make sure to select resistors with specified temperature coefficients for accurate simulation results
